Bio/Artist Statement

Tom Heywood has enjoyed photography most of his life, and recently within the past few years in his retirement from teaching in Denver Public Schools he has taken his interest to a serious professional level starting a successful art business. He has studied with The Denver School of Photography, The Colorado Photographic Arts Center, and has mentored under some of Denver’s most accomplished photographers. He is involved in several photography communities in the Denver area, including serving as the President of the Lone Tree Photography Club, and has served on the board of The Colorado Council of Camera Clubs.

He is a rapidly emerging photography artist on the Denver photography scene.  Tom is an award-winning photographer, receiving local and regional awards.  He has been invited to exhibit in several juried, state and national fine art photography shows. His awards include: 2014 Denver Photographic Society digital color photographer of the year and digital creative photographer of the year, 2015 PSA photojournalism photo of the year, and 2016 Lone Tree Eye of The Camera Show people’s choice award.

Tom’s passion is undeniable.  He is happiest when he has his camera in his hands.  His primary interest is landscape photography but has learned that there are many great photo opportunities right in his own city.
