MORNING:  “Creating Images from Your Soul – Finding Your Why”

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” ~ Ansel Adams

However, sometimes we get so involved in the everyday routine that we simply lose track of why we picked up a camera in the first place.

In this inspirational program Jeff will explore some of the reasons why you are who you are and if you are realizing your potential as a photographer. Are you fulfilling your passion? So many times we lose our direction. It’s as if our lives are on autopilot and controlled as if by a puppeteer.

Discovering the “why” of your life can be beneficial, rewarding and will unlock your potential for living your life and art to its fullest. Becoming aware of why you do the things you do and recognizing if they truly enhance your life and art, is not only important, but it can be mind-blowing as well.

Are you following blindly or do you have control of the wheel? You have to be honest with this question! Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and will overflow into your everyday life. You can’t help that; you are an artist. And the only way to be truly satisfied is to create what you believe is great work. Work that you find your truth in, not someone else’ truth. The only way to create great work is to love what YOU do. If you haven’t found that love yet, keep looking. Don’t settle for less and please don’t give up. This program will encourage you to explore deeper inside of your knowledge, passion and love for photography.

“As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it”. ~ Steve Jobs

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.” ~ Maya Angelou

AFTERNOON:  Post-Processing Magic (Lightroom, Photoshop & Fine Art Demonstration)

As we move along through our photography career we learn, experiment and create imagery that satisfies our souls. Or do we? This is where many photographers lose their passion, their direction for the art they’ve chosen for their life flow. In the morning program we chatted about exploring and finding the “why” in our lives and our art. But it’s in the post-processing of those preciously created images that your why is realized as an instrument for sharing your passion and vision with others. Lightroom and Photoshop and all of those great plug-ins are useful and arguably valuable tools but without your vision and direction for an image you really just have a memory of your own. It’s not just about learning what these software options can do, it’s really more about creating an image that truly speaks your truth about what you were feeling and experiencing when you made the initial exposure. Or simply stated . . . finding your style, not someone else’s!

Jeff’s demonstration will include:

• Adjustment layers and masking
• Burning & Dodging
• Layer stacking
• Texture overlays
• Focus Stacking
• And so much more . . .
